Description

The little fellow received a notification from Amorim asking if we had pictures of Craters Clavius and Tycho on July 17.

This was motivated by the fact of a possible occurrence of TLP in this region.

Many ask me what TLPs are?

Many do not know this aspect so interesting to be searched in our satellite!

Thinking it follows a small caption that although very brief seeks to give an idea on the subject:

What is a TLP?

Transient lunar phenomena (TLPs-Transient Lunar Phenomena) are described as short-term changes in the brightness of spots on the face of the moon. They last from a few seconds to a few hours and can grow from a few up to a hundred kilometers. Most cases of TLPs are described as an increase in total light on the moon a location, however, sometimes observers report a decrease in brightness in a region or even changing its color to red or violet. Reports of TLPs described them as "mist", "clouds", "volcanoes", among other terms provocative. Even today, they are poorly understood, however many serious research being done on the subject.

Who observed a TLP?

Hundreds of amateur and professional astronomers have documented their observations of TLPs since the invention of the telescope. Some have been confirmed by several observers or even photographed. Some TLPs were also reported by the Apollo astronauts as they orbited the moon

What causes a TLP?

The physical mechanism responsible for creating a TLP is not well understood. Of the many proposed theories, we believe that they are the result of lunar outgassing, ie gas being released from the surface of the moon. The TLPs are real?

Because the evidence for TLPs is almost entirely anecdotal and based on visual descriptions of observers, many scientists remain skeptical as to whether or not. Despite the skeptics when it begins investigating TLPs, statistical analyzes suggest that the most frequently reported events TLPs must be real, although there are some reports spurious. There are currently several projects to track the Moon, as well as constant vigilance over certain places where the number of reports is larger, this is being done by trying to obtain a database goal of these events through the use of modern technology in a survey systematic.
